As a naturopath and homeopath, my goal is to help you achieve not only physical health, but also the personal empowerment and the well-being that enable you to live a life that feels great inside and out, and thus to fulfill your higher purpose in life.
I am committed to the integration of natural medicine and modern science so that I can provide the most complete, holistic and effective healing protocols for my clients.
My embrace of naturopathic as well as homeopathic medicine developed when I was in my twenties, because it was only through this type of medicine that I was able to recover from three serious illnesses. At three different points in time, I had very severe headaches, paralysis from the waist down and then respiratory problems. After exhausting all the possible options within conventional medicine in each of these three cases, it was only after I chose a holistic approach using herbs, diet, homeopathy and internal work that I was able to regain full health.
In my opinion, “good medicine” is the therapy most appropriate for an individual at a given point in time, whether natural or conventional. I believe that the best care utilizes the proper combination of approaches that enable people to identify and address the root cause of their illness while their symptoms are being managed and resolved.
I have also found that lasting healing is very much encouraged and supported by digging deep and clearing the mental/emotional causes of illness and histories of trauma. I have seen incredible transformations in people when they allow themselves the gift of this work. Life is amazing and wonderful when we are able to be free of limiting and toxic emotions and/or beliefs or past traumas.
Most people, I have found, seek inner happiness, peace, and a sense of inner fulfillment with a healthy balance of physical vitality rooted in a vibrant body, mind and spirit. For me, naturopathic medicine, homeopathic medicine, and energy medicine are the tri-fold answer to helping you reach and maintain this kind of wellness.
I have completed several degree programs in the field of Natural Health Sciences, including a Doctor of Naturopathy degree as well as a degree and national certification in Classical Homeopathy. I also have several years of clinical training in both naturopathy and homeopathy as well as in energy and functional medicine.
Other certifications include BodyTalk (CBP and PaRama BP), Advanced Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner (through the Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology--ACEP and EFT Universe), Neurolinguistic Programming (Master NLP practitioner), Theta Healing practitioner and Instructor, Certified Kinesionics Practitioner, a 2-year training in Sacred Contracts and archetypal readings (with Carolyn Myss in Chicago), and coursework in Functional Blood Chemistry analysis, Endocrinology, and Neurotransmitters and Brain Chemistry.
I spent the first half of my career as a university professor... teaching, researching and publishing about how we might "heal" the economic problems of our time. My specific focus was on Latin American development issues and US-Latin American economic relations and also taught issues courses that related to topics such as health-care economics, women in the economy, and comparative economic systems. While economics is still a passion for me, I began studying natural healing modalities in 1998 and have continued an in-depth study of natural and functional medicine as well as homeopathy ever since. I began my practice in Columbia, Missouri in 2005. Since then, I have focused full-time on each individual's 'economy' and how we 'spend' (or utilize and replenish) our life resources. A major part of healing the planet is each of our own deep healing. It seems to me that this can be one of our greatest contribution to the global whole.
I am certified through the American Naturopathic Certification Board, the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC), the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP), the American Alternative Medical Association (AAMA), the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) and the Pastoral Medical Association. I am a member of the ANMA (American Naturopathic Medical Association), the National Center for Homeopathy (NCH), the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) and the Coalition for Natural Health (CNH).
My office is located in Columbia, Missouri, but I also consult nationally and internationally by phone and skype as well.
